Strange Brewing is a brewery in Buenos Aires that manages to put innovation and experimentation in every step of the brew process. Founders Ramiro-an Argentine, and Tor-a Norwegian-founded Strange Brewing in 2012 after meeting while in school studying literature in the Bay Area of San Francisco. What was once just a joint hobby-a tiny batch brewing of beer at home during university days-blossomed rather seamlessly into a passion that later would find them opening up a brewery together. After years of honing their craft and embarking on an amazing journey across Central and South America, Strange Brewing was born.
The brewery finally opened its doors in September 2017, in the neighborhood of Buenos Aires called Colegiales. The founding team, which would later be joined by childhood friends of Ramiro and close friends of Tor, built the brewery from scratch, putting their energy and creativity into the space. The result became a place quite out of the ordinary, where innovative, daring beers are created and shared with the public.
What most characterizes Strange Brewing is the will to innovate and push the boundaries in brewing. Consecutively, since the beginning, the brewery had in its portfolio beers of peculiar styles, such as Norwegian Porter, Grapefruit Gose, and West Coast IPA. So, it did not take them long to be known for being bold with new styles, such as NEIPA and mixed fermentation beers with Brettanomyces and fruit additions, in the Argentine market. That adventurous spirit has drawn the beer crowd from across Argentina and, quite literally, well beyond to this epicenter of avant-garde, bold, and unexpected flavors.
Strange Brewing is committed to ongoing improvement and experimentation with its philosophy. CAMUS-or Club Atlético Mapaches Unidos y Soberanos-is a downstairs, brewery program for the fanatically devoted to the most extreme and experimental creations. CAMUS members enjoy access to Strange's innovative barrel program, where mixed fermentations with wild yeasts and bacteria create profiled sour beers that traditional brewing methods cannot achieve. A testimony to the exploration of Strange Brewing Company into the limits of making beer.
Not only does Strange Brewing make fantastic beers, but they also take great pride in their food. The brewery's kitchen offers fresh, seasonal ingredients on a rotating menu to complement their diverse beer selection. From high-quality food down to inventive beers, a well-rounded experience can be had in the brewpub-by those enjoying pints on-site or buying cans and bottles for home.
Strange Brewing has also forged itself into a community hub, a place where the curious and adventurous gather-some bound by a passion for creativity and craftsmanship. The atmosphere within the brewery has turned into that of confluence for people of every ilk, united in appreciation for innovative beers and a relaxed environment with a sense of welcome. This commitment of Strange Brewing to its craft and community has helped the brewery grow into one of the most exciting, forward-thinking breweries in Argentina.
As Strange Brewing Company continues to grow, its employees are still true to the core of its mission: to create one-of-a-kind, high-quality beer experiences. Whether that's through CAMUS-the ever-changing, beer-focused menu-or the community they build, Strange Brewing Company is always pushing what a brewery can be.
