The Grammenos Winery, located at Sinarades, Corfu, started in the late 1970s with the amateur vinification by Panagiotis Grammenos and the cultivation of vineyards with local Corfiot varieties. His passion was transferred to his son, Spyros Grammenos, who laid the foundations of the business philosophy and officially established the modern winery in 2002.
This vineyard, located approximately 2 km from the winery, extends over the areas of Skafona, Korakas, and Vouni in the west-central part of Corfu at an altitude of 250-300 meters. Mild Mediterranean soil, combined with the wateriness supplied by the southeast winds and abundant rainfalls, makes for the proper conditions to grow vines.
The estate grows mainly white Kakotrygis, with which it makes white wine KAKOTRYGIS P.G.E., and red Petrokorithos, from which the rosé wine PETROCORITHO LOCAL WINE. There is another group of vineyard cultivated plants in the vineyard—less well-known but very diverse: whites SNAKES, KOKALIARIS, KOZANITIS, ROMBOLA, and reds SKOPELITIKO and MARZAVI. The objective of the company is to uplift these varieties on a higher degree on the oenological map.
These are cultivated under the principles of excellence, combining traditional care with modern technological innovation and scientific research. Located at the top of the Sinarades mountain, the winery is fully equipped with all modern machinery, including contemporary winemaking machinery, pneumatic presses, stainless fermentation tanks, a complete cooling system, and in the bottling area, a modern bottling system securing the result of high-quality wine.
The Grammenos Winery foremost, represents an inheritance of the family Grammenos and their relationship with viticulture, and an expression of its incessant quest for great wines.
