Karnataka Golf Association

The Karnataka Golf Association, which was established in 1973, is counted among one of India's finest golf courses. The Karnataka Golf Association is located in the bustling city of Bengaluru. Conceptualized by a farsighted and founding membership of enthusiastic golfers, the Karnataka Golf Association had an initial formation objective of creating a world-class golfing facility that would be a source of pride for the city. The association, after years of planning and collecting funds, finally came into possession of 125 acres of land given by the Chief Minister of Karnataka in Challaghatta and undertook the work of building an international-standard course.

Designed by the famous architect Peter Thomson, this course was developed to meet all the standards of championship courses. By 1989, all 18 holes were playable, the course has since hosted many prestigious events, including the Classic Masters and Hero Indian Open. Sprawled over a long stretch of acres, this 7,227-yard course is covered with Bermuda grass fairways and has some of the best-manicured greens; there are several water bodies on the course and bunkers. The facility also boasts floodlit holes and has a driving range of roughly 350 meters, believed to be the longest in India, where golfers can hone their craft day and night.

The nature splendor is part of the identity that the Karnataka Golf Association course teems with. Well-landscaped, serpentine water bodies, and a cover of flowering trees make the course green amidst all the concrete of this bustling city. Then flora from Royal Palms to Neem trees makes the setting really picturesquely fitting for peaceful retreats pursued by members and visitors alike.

It attracts members from quite prestigious backgrounds: entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, civil servants, and international cricketers. In fact, it epitomizes the pulsating spirit of Bengaluru—a melting pot for the vibrancy of a modern city—which ensures that good fellowship and sportsmanship ethos are never compromised. The Indian Golf Union has accredited the Karnataka Golf Association as one of the best golf courses in the country, while the latter has emerged as a greater influencer in promoting golf tourism in Karnataka. This has made the Karnataka Golf Association a hub of attention among top-class golfers around the world.
