Yakampot

Based in Mexico City, Yakampot is a social brand that designs clothes inspired by iconic elements of traditional attire as a way to celebrate its Mexican heritage. Founded in order to mix the past, the present, and the future into one single element, Yakampot fuses traditional craftsmanship with modern notions of style in fashion.

Founded on the basis of exalting Mexican roots, Yakampot allies itself with local artisans and groups of producers from Chiapas and the State of Mexico. Each item is an incarnation of heritage from the communities and bridges cultural tradition with modern design.

Yakampot operates on the basis of fair trade. It is core to being inclusive and about justice within the fashion industry. Working with artisan communities in developing and perfecting techniques in textiles, Yakampot provides equal access and support for vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities.

The design team at Yakampot innovates and preserves traditional techniques with artisans, providing training in quality sewing skills to obtain decent work. It has a very meticulous production process for garments, from the initial craftsmanship to the final detailing.

27% of the value from every product sold is returned to the local producers in the form of fair wages and community development projects working toward sustainable growth and empowering initiatives.
