About Barcelona Cooking

Barcelona Cooking is a cooking school based in the heart of Barcelona; it offers participation cookery classes and food tours to explore the best of Spanish and Catalan cuisine. Founded by three friends from Galicia—Candido, Tony, and Emma—the school began with a shared passion for the gastronomy of their homeland and the urge to share it with the rest of the world. In June 2012, the Barcelona Cooking School was opened, and within a few months, the school became very popular among travelers who were seeking a truly unique cultural experience.

There are two teaching kitchens in this Las Ramblas location. The 'red' kitchen is the original one at this cooking school, ultra-modern, and friendly, with lots of light and color adorning it; in addition to that, it is fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances. The atmosphere provided in the red kitchen is great and really cozy, perfect for eliciting creativity in the kitchen. The 'blue' kitchen is the newer, larger space; it has great views of the city and a friendly, Mediterranean feel. This space is ideal for group classes, events, and presentations, thanks to a modernist Catalan influence and ceiling-height windows.

Barcelona Cooking insists on fresh, seasonal, and locally grown ingredients for sustainability and as little footprint as possible on the environment. It practices a 'farm to table' philosophy. The food products are supplied from local farms and other purveyors in this particular case. Classes benefit from the rich supply base in the Catalonia region, with its many farmlands, vineyards, olive groves, and, of course, the sea. Not only is the La Boqueria market one of the premier markets in the world and normally visited through a guided tour from the school, but fresh products used by the classes are also supplied from there.

Participants in the cooking classes and market tours use top-quality, fresh ingredients. In the morning classes with market tours, they can even select some of the ingredients themselves. Barcelona Cooking pays attention to detail in hopes of creating a great cultural and gastronomic experience, looking toward sustainability and local purchasing.
