Midi Photography is a Manchester-based architectural photography service created by Mike Dinsdale. With a unique combination of working experience as a building surveyor and a hobby for photography, this professional skillfully covers commercial architecture and interior spaces, telling visual striking stories about built environments.
First and foremost, Mike Dinsdale was a building surveyor before he fell into architectural photography. He did his Building Surveying at Leeds with honors and has over 15 years of work experience. This gives him an excellent understanding of construction methods, reflected in the attention to detail and clarity of his shots.
A chance meeting with a local band promoter got Mike into photography in the first place, shooting live music scenes. This turned into an important project of photographing a refurbished bar in Liverpool, which panned out into his interest in architectural photography. In 2015, this turned into a full-time passion with the creation of Midi Photography, where he started seriously photographing spaces, both architectural and interior.
In 2016, Midi Photography expanded its service offer to include becoming a UK Civil Aviation Authority-approved drone operator. This facility enables the practice to provide aerial photography and thus present clients with overall views of structures that are being created. This is not only adding to visual storytelling, but also benefiting Mike's experience in surveying by creating just that little something special in the viewing structure.
Further expanding its services, in 2021, Midi Photography introduced Matterport 360 virtual tours. These interactive 3D and 360-degree walkthroughs, therefore, allow clients from any part of the world to virtually walk through spaces, shrink the physical distance, and offer a dynamic way of experiencing architecture and interiors. This service is seamlessly linked to traditional architectural photography to create a cohesive visual presentation of spaces.
Midi Photography works in close collaboration with architects, main contractors, interior designers, civil engineers, and developers alike. These projects range from Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, to London, while the company has also worked throughout the UK and into Europe, earning a good reputation for quality imagery to cover a wide range of clients within construction and design.
Besides architectural photography, Mike is also very much interested in aviation photography. Aircraft shooting is a kind of personal hobby that underlines his love for the technical and aesthetic side of aviation. Such attention to detail and perspective finds its place in his professional work too: every project is approached with dedication and an eye for detail.
