Nestled in Honolulu but offering a real farm-to-cup experience steeped in the rich heritage of Kona, Hawaii's coffee country, Kona Coffee Purveyors is not only a coffee shop but also an odyssey that takes one high above the North Pacific to a third-generation coffee farm where volcanic soil and Kona's unique microclimate coalesce in extraordinary beans. Each cup served at Kona Coffee Purveyors reflects the detailed care and respect that owners Raymond and Jackie Suiter pay to honoring every bean from growth on the hillside to precise roasting in Honolulu.
Raymond Suiter grew up in Seattle and has spent over three decades developing Hawaii's coffee scene and the reputation of Kona as a source of premium coffee. Prior to the establishment of Honolulu Coffee Company, he introduced Hawaii to European coffee culture and designed a relaxed, leisurely coffee experience that has since become a tradition among natives and tourists alike. In 2008, Raymond sold Honolulu Coffee Company so that he could give his full attention to his passion for Kona coffee. He co-founded Kona Coffee Purveyors as a tribute to Hawaii's coffee heritage and a study in meticulous artistry.
Jackie Suiter, cofounder, took her degree in Food Science, specializing in Sensory Sciences. She became a licensed Q Grader, certified coffee taster, and flavor chemist, leading the roasting team to lock in each bean's peculiarities using exacting monitoring of density, moisture, and timing. She is devoted to the cause of bringing out the complexity and depth in every roast, to bring out the characteristics that will make for a cup, showcasing the beans' unique character and the terroir of Kona.
Kona Coffee Purveyors is based on deep connectivity to the land and the people who farm it. The coffee beans originate from the family farm of Tommy Greenwell, which has grown coffee for almost three centuries. It is a long-standing partnership with mutual respect and a shared pursuit of quality that enables Kona Coffee Purveyors to present coffee that reflects the vibrant flavors of Kona's volcanic soil, elevation, and climate.
This commitment to excellence and authenticity pervades every detail of Kona Coffee Purveyors, from its sustainable farming relationships to the Probat roasters Jackie assembled by hand, now central to the Honolulu roastery. Visitors to the shop can revel in not only a cup of expertly crafted coffee but also a slice of Hawaii's coffee culture, an outcome of years of devotion to each and every detail-from farm to roastery down to that final sip.
